People, most especially women, spend a lot of time and money in removing unwanted hair. Some do it for cosmetic purposes to enhance their beauty, while some do it for hygienic reasons. Unwanted hair can be easily removed. The most popular methods include shaving, waxing, using depilatory creams, laser treatments and using hair removal devices. Shaving involves the removal of hair from the surface of the skin using a razor. It’s one of the quickest and cheapest way to remove unwanted hair. While quick and painless, shaving requires more upkeep than other types of methods as its results only last for only one to two days. Furthermore, hair regrowth is prickly as hair is cut at an angle and the risk of getting nicks and skin abrasions are very high.
This method of hair removal can be traced back to history. Back in the day, ancient Egyptian civilizations used sugar, honey and lime syrup to strip off body hair. Up to now, this method is still being widely practiced all over the world. What’s good about waxing is that it pulls out the hair from the roots, so the hair regrowth time is relatively longer as compared to when you shave. However, it does have a certain degree of pain and the chances of getting wax burns and allergic reactions is very high. This method is not really suitable for those with low pain tolerance and sensitive skin.
USING DEPILATORY CREAMS

What’s good about it is that it’s quick and virtually painless. However, since most depilatory creams, if not all, are made of strong chemicals, it may cause adverse skin reactions, allergies and itchiness. It also has a strong chemical smell which may not be tolerable for some people.
LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Laser hair removal is probably the holy grail of hair removal methods. It’s a high tech, hygienic and relatively painless way to remove unwanted hair. It is performed by using laser energy to produce heat in the hair which causes the hair follicle to go into a resting phase. It may be one of the best, if the not best way to remove unwanted hair, but it does have several drawbacks. First of all, it’s very expensive and not everyone can afford it. Second, it take more or less seven to eight treatments to get the desired results. Again, multiple series of treatments mean multiple series of payments. Third, it only works best on light skinned people so if you’re a man or a woman of color then this method might not work well for you. And fourth, despite having had laser hair removal, you may still see complete hair regrowth after a couple of weeks.
USING HAIR REMOVAL DEVICES
With the recent popularity of painless hair removal techniques, hair removal devices which try to replicate this process have sprung up everywhere. Using hair removal devices is a financially viable way to remove unwanted hair painlessly and at the same time make the hair much finer when it grows. These devices are small and compact so you can bring it anywhere with you. It’s also safe to use and there’s no risk of damaging the hair or the skin. Furthermore, it’s results lasts longer as compared to when you shave or wax. However, in the beginning stages, you might miss some hairs. They say it’s second best to lasers, but this method really does take some time to remove all the hairs completely.
